I’m Busy, So You Get A List of Random Things
I love writing this newsletter, even if it’s in its infancy and not widely read. It gives me a chance to share interesting things with interesting people, opening up space for some great conversations. And it forces me to keep up a habit of writing, which I ignored for the past several years.
But alas, this has been a busy week for me and I didn’t have the time I’d like to sort through my list of topics and do any of them justice. Don’t fret! I’m not going to totally shirk my responsibilities to entertain you, dear reader.
So here’s a bunch of crap I found on the Internet.1
🎸 What if the Final Fantasy X soundtrack were a prog rock concept album?
⌨️ This keyboard has an undo/redo knob.2
🚰 A hacker nearly poisoned the water supply in Pinellas County, Florida.
🛢 Other hackers have cut off half the US east coast’s oil supply.
📈 Come up with your own measures of inflation kinda sorta with this fun tool.
🚇 I can tell you from experience that the Hong Kong metro system (MTR) is better than any metro in America. This is why.
📉 If you want to know what it looks like when a company implodes in public, this is what it looks like.
🥱 Are you always staying up too late for no reason? Maybe it’s revenge bedtime procrastination. I’m doing it as I write this!
Obligatory Oreo
By popular request, I will close these newsletters from now on with a picture of our puppy Oreo.
I’m presently inspired by the title of Chapter One of Greg McKeown’s new book Effortless: “What if this could be easy?” Can’t think of an easier way to write this than just emailing a bunch of links!
Also, Amelia Wattenberger is an excellent source for learning about data visualization with React and D3. That’s probably not of interest to anyone reading this newsletter, but I think it’s cool.
